Canadian and British Philanthropists Invest $ 7 Million in Children’s Mental Health in Ukraine
Canadian and British philanthropists are investing $ 7 million in the creation of a Center of Excellence for child and adolescent mental health in Kyiv. This international charitable support will enable the scaling of the Gen. Hope initiative and the development of a sustainable model of long-term support for children in Ukraine.
The project is being implemented by Gen.Ukrainian with institutional support from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), which provides the academic, expert, and research foundation for the Center’s development. The physical space of Gen.Hope will be located on the grounds of the university’s future campus in the Obolon district of Kyiv.
The Center’s mission is to establish a comprehensive approach to supporting the mental health of children and adolescents. The project envisions the creation of a safe space for children, alongside programmatic and research activities aimed at addressing the mental health challenges caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The Center’s work will combine direct psychological support, the development of evidence-based intervention programs, and research focused on strengthening children’s psychological resilience and emotional well-being.
The Center is scheduled to begin operations in early 2027, with the capacity to support up to 25,000 children annually.
