The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held a high-level event in support of Gen.Ukrainian

The prosperity of any country rests on the wellbeing of its children. Unfortunately today, millions of Ukrainian children are suffering as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Now, more than ever, they need the support of responsible adults. We are immensely grateful to EBRD—a bank that is already restoring Ukraine’s infrastructure and entire cities—for the opportunity to become part of the Community Initiative and for opening its heart to support Ukrainian children.
On March 13, 2025, a high-level event in support of Gen.Ukrainian was held, where the EBRD provided an important platform for diplomats, policymakers, and partners working on contemporary challenges facing childhood in Ukraine. A key feature of the event was the screening of a 25-minute documentary by Volodymyr Kalishchuk x Gen.Ukrainian.
The screening was followed by a panel discussion addressing the key challenges and necessary steps to ensure meaningful and lasting support for Ukrainian children affected by the war.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers who emphasized the importance of addressing the long-term impact of war on children:

Odile Renaud-Basso
President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
Valerii Zaluzhnyi
Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom
Gemma Chan
Actress and UNICEF UK Ambassador

We are also deeply appreciative of the panel discussion participants:

Christina Lamb
OBE, Chief Foreign Correspondent, The Sunday Times
Oksana Lebedieva
Founder of Gen.Ukrainian
Victoria Prentis
KC, Former UK Attorney General
CJ Westring
Senior Adviser, Gen.Ukrainian & Sweden-Ukraine Business Action

A special thank you to Marcus Warren for his professional moderation of the discussion.
We are grateful to the event organizers—Kseniia Iaremych (Ambassador of Gen.Ukrainian in the UK), Julia Rybakova, and Olga Evans (EBRD)—for their dedication and efforts in making this event possible.
We also appreciate the continued support of UNICEF UK, whose work remains instrumental in raising awareness of the long-term consequences of armed conflict on children.
A special acknowledgment to Sergey Sarakhanov, a globally renowned Ukrainian photographer, for capturing unique portraits of the event’s guests.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to all participants and partners for their engagement in this critical initiative. Events of this scale play an essential role in shaping the future of European society.
