Her presentation, “Childhood in War: What Europe Can Learn from Ukraine — Understanding Child Well-being, Resilience, and Recovery Through Longitudinal Research,” showed how childhood is shaped by ongoing danger, loss, relocation, and uncertainty. It also highlighted what helps children not only survive but continue to thrive.
Restoring childhood during wartime is a matter of the country’s long-term resilience.
That is why Gen.Ukrainian in partnership with Kyiv School of Economics are developing Gen.Hope — Center of Excellence in children’s and adolescents’ mental health that combines practice, research, professional training, and advocacy for systemic solutions.
The experience of Ukraine is important for the international expert community because it helps answer a common question: how to support children when war, loss, and uncertainty are transforming childhood itself.
