Transforming Childhood: Gen.Hope's Experience at the 66th Annual EB-ACA Conference

After returning from the 66th Annual European Branch of the American Counseling Association (EB-ACA) Conference in Timișoara, Romania, the Gen.Ukrainian team once again felt how powerful the European professional community can be when united by a common goal — transforming approaches to children’s mental health.
Anna Borshchevska, Program Director of Gen.Hope, together with Dr. Emily Goodman-Scott — Professor at Old Dominion University and a member of Gen.Hope’s Expert Board — shared insights on addressing childhood trauma caused by war.
We believe war must not define childhood, and that early intervention and systemic support can change the future of an entire generation. Programs like GenCamp prove that practical help and self-regulation skills are key investments in the psychological resilience of Europe’s children.
Our gratitude goes to the organizers for the inclusive conference format and to everyone who expressed solidarity with Ukraine. Together, we are not just helping children overcome the effects of war—we are shaping a future in which mental health becomes the foundation of peace.
